CITY GUIDE CAPE TOWN

Private jet charter to Cape Town

Cape Town is one of South Africa’s most vibrant cities and offers a wealth of attractions and plenty if wining and dining opportunities. Air Charter Service can help you charter a private jet to Cape Town to ensure you spend as much time as possible exploring, instead of queueing in airports.

Cape Town is located on the Western Cape, on the shores of Table Bay and is well known for its diverse population, iconic Table Mountain and its harbour front setting. When it comes to things to do, a major must do is a visit to Table Mountain. Whether you choose to hike up it or get the revolving cable car, you’ll love the breath taking views out over the city from the summit. The mountain also makes up part of the Table Mount National Park. There’s also Lion’s Head, which is another natural geological formation, and one you can paraglide off should you wish!

Back on the ground there are a couple of nearby areas well worth a visit. Simon’s town is famed for its penguin colony at Boulders Beach and is only a short drive from the city. Here, wooden walkways get you in and amongst the colony without disrupting them. Also a short drive from the city is the Winelands, with Franschhoek and Stellenbosch being two of the favourite areas, with plenty of wineries to choose from. A little closer to town are the Constantia Winelands if you’re tighter on time, also offering incredible views, great food and, of course, outstanding wine.

Back in Cape Town itself you’ll find the bustling V&A Waterfront, an area of shops, restaurants and bars. Here you’ll also find the ferry that takes visitors to Robben Island, when Nelson Mandela was incarcerated. There are also plenty of Cape Fur seals to be found sunning themselves around the harbour area. For more of the outdoorsy type of activity, head to Kirstenbosch National Park, or take a wander along the Sea Point Promenade, both popular with tourists and locals alike. For the beach, Camps Bay is always a popular choice, with plenty of sand, sea and bars. There are also a number of small boutique hotels here, as well as larger beachfront properties.

When it comes to shopping, food and drink, Cape Town has more than just the V&A. It also has two popular markets, The Biscuit Mill on a Saturday morning for local clothes and delicious market food or the Granger Bay Market for less busy, more rural atmosphere. When it comes to food, Jerry's Burger Bar is a favourite across the city for its burgers, Kitima in Hout Bay is famed for its Asian fusion food, and The Test Kitchen is a favourite with gourmands everywhere. The Bombay Bicycle Club on Kloof Street offer a great experience, pegging itself as the oldest gentleman’s club in the world and a bohemian den for great food and plenty of drink. If you’re looking for somewhere to unwind, Yours Truly rooftop bar is a must and then ERA is you’re feeling brave and want to party in a state-of-the-art club.
