Christchurch International Airport
Christchurch International Airport is the second busiest airport in New Zealand behind Auckland Airport. The airport is capable of handling Boeing 747s and Airbus A380s and the airport runs a 24 hour operation. The airport began its international operations in 1950 and since then has undergone numerus infrastructure upgrades and expansions to keep up with growing passenger numbers. The most recent project saw the old domestic terminal demolished and a brand new integrated terminal building was constructed in its place. Christchurch International Airport has two runways and a single terminal with an array of passenger facilities. For business and VIP travellers airline lounges are available. The airport is located northwest of the city.
