EMBRAER PHENOM 100

EMBRAER PHENOM 100

  • Passengers 4

The Embraer Phenom 100 blends reliability, efficiency and performance in a small but perfectly-formed package. This, along with next-generation technology and comfort, makes it one of the most popular private jets to charter in its class.

About this aircraft

  • Launched in 2005 and certified in 2008, the Embraer Phenom 100 quickly became one of the most popular light jets on the market.
  • It can fly four passengers from New York to Chicago or London to Nice, with better fuel efficiency and lower operating costs than some turboprops.
  • The aircraft seats four or five people in the main cabin, with an extra passenger in the belted lavatory if required. Up to seven people can travel if one passenger sits in the cockpit next to a single pilot, however this option isn’t available for private charters.
  • The Phenom 100’s baggage hold has enough room for four large suitcases, four medium-sized suitcases and four items of hand luggage.
  • The upgraded Phenom 100E variant features multifunction spoilers, while the 100EV has modified engines and a new avionics suite for enhanced performance.

Combining the performance of a larger jet with the operating costs of a turboprop, the Phenom 100 is one of the best entry-level jets on the market.

Interior design

The Phenom 100’s luxurious cabin typically carries up to five passengers. Some layouts offer four seats in a club formation, while others have a fifth seat at the front instead of a refreshment centre. All have space for an additional passenger in the enclosed lavatory.

The 100EV model has an optional VIP panel allowing passengers to control the cabin temperature. In-flight entertainment is provided by a CD/DVD with XM radio receiver and auxiliary inputs.

Below are the two most common configurations found on the Embraer Phenom 100.

Interesting facts to learn before you fly

  • The Phenom 100 has one of the largest entrance doors found on a light jet. Unusually for its class, it also has an airstair.
  • The aircraft’s huge windows are positioned to flood the cabin with natural light.
  • There’s a forward wardrobe for storing small items, with 6 ft3 of storage capacity.
  • The baggage hold is large enough for golf bags and skis.

Technological features

The Phenom 100 is equipped with Garmin G1000 avionics. This all-glass suite is built with the pilot in mind, placing aircraft monitoring, situational awareness and flight-planning tools at their fingertips through high-definition colour screens. It also features the GFC 700, a fully digital, dual-channel, three-axis autopilot system.

The evolution model, Phenom 100EV, has upgraded Garmin G3000 avionics. Embraer’s Prodigy Touch flight deck offers single-pilot operation with a touch-controlled cockpit that’s designed to anticipate every need, minimise workload and increase information availability and ease of access. Features include a synthetic vision system, graphical flight planning, runway monitoring, vertical navigation, wind shear alerting and weather radar with vertical scan, ground clutter suppression and turbulence detection.

History

Embraer's board of directors approved the development of a very light jet in April 2005, unveiling a full-scale mock-up of the Phenom 100 at the NBAA convention later that year.

The aircraft first flew in July 2007 and was awarded a type certificate from Brazil's civil aviation authority in December 2008, with the first model delivered weeks later. The Phenom 100EV was unveiled in July 2016 and delivered in March 2017.

Manufacturer

Founded in 1969 with the help of the Brazilian government, Embraer has grown into the world’s third-largest commercial jet manufacturer, delivering over 8,000 aircraft in total and employing 18,000 people across sites in the Americas, Africa, Asia and Europe. Today an Embraer aircraft takes off every 10 seconds and its planes carry an average of 145 million passengers a year.

Embraer’s first aircraft was the Bandeirante, a turboprop plane designed for both civilian and military purposes. Aiming to remain at the forefront of avionics, the brand continuously reinvents its product designs with every new line of aircraft and allocates 10% of its total revenue towards research, development, innovation and improving industrial solutions.

Cost

A new Embraer Phenom 100EV costs around $4.5 million (USD).
