Transporting Covid vaccines to Central Africa

In January 2022, a freight forwarder working on behalf of the Greek government asked us to help transport 150,000 donated Covid-19 vaccines to Gabon in Central Africa. We needed to charter a temperature-controlled aircraft to fly the sensitive cargo, which could only survive for 24 hours after leaving its regulated storage facility.

Our Solution

Route: Athens > Libreville

Aircraft: Boeing B737-700 QC

Our expert team decided a Boeing B737-700 QC was the best aircraft for this charter, as it had a temperature-controlled hold with space for all the vaccines.

We sourced an available model from an Algerian operator that could carry out a fuel stop in Algeria, minimising the permit paperwork needed for the flight. The charter ran smoothly and arrived in Libreville ahead of schedule.

The Finer Details

Industry Relationships: We’ve partnered with the freight forwarder in question several times throughout the pandemic to transport PPE, test kits and vaccines around the world.
