Moving aircraft engine parts around the globe
Our Houston office was tasked with facilitating the urgent delivery of 24 pallets of parts from Barbados to Angola, where they were needed to repair the engine of a grounded aircraft. The heavy and outsized cargo had to be moved as quickly as possible without breaking the budget, so we set about planning a solution for this complex request.
Our Solution
Route: Barbados > Houston > Frankfurt > Angola
Service: Aircraft charter, next flight out
Different divisions of our Houston office collaborated to offer the client a solution within 24 hours, seamlessly combining an aircraft charter with a ‘next flight out’ service to move the parts between continents fast.
First, the cargo team sourced an Antonov AN-12 to transport the heavy pallets from Barbados to Houston. Then, our logistics experts at ACS Time Critical arranged for them to be moved to a bonded warehouse before being loaded onto a scheduled flight to Angola.
The client needed to add a piece of hazardous cargo to the consignment at the very last minute, so we worked around the clock to ensure it complied with all necessary regulations and could travel with the rest of the parts.
The Finer Details
Unrivalled Expertise: Using an in-bond shipment saved precious time by deferring lengthy US customs formalities until the cargo had reached its final destination.
Flight Representation: One of our team was at the airport to oversee the arrival of the AN-12 and supervise the cargo’s transfer to the warehouse.
Available 24/7: We worked around the clock to pull off this complex logistics solution, remaining contactable at all times and keeping the client fully up-to-date.
