A breeding agent needed full logistics support when relocating the animals for training.

Moving 10 horses from Europe to Cape Verde

A breeding agent asked our team in London to help relocate 10 horses weighing around a tonne each. Having purchased the animals from France and the UK, the end client needed them in Cape Verde for training. The agent had no freight forwarder experience, so we got to work on a comprehensive solution with full logistics support.

Our Solution

Routes: Paris > Santiago Island

Aircraft: Boeing 737-800F

We sourced a Boeing 737 freighter based between southern France and the UK, as the rate quoted was very competitive and included stalls for the horses to travel in.

Our team worked with a specialist horse transport company to provide critical ground assistance, sorting everything from health tests, live animal declarations and export customs to pre-preparing the stalls with food, water and straw for the flight.

We arranged for the horses to be trucked to the airport and delivered airside. Assisted by several grooms, the animals were transferred into the stalls positioned on high loaders and loaded onto the aircraft. Two of the grooms then stayed onboard to accompany the flight.

The client wanted to be present when the horses were offloaded in Cape Verde, so we arranged the necessary airside passes to enable this. Everything ran smoothly from start to finish and the customer has since booked a repeat charter with us, showing how impressed they were with our expert handling of the complex request.

The Finer Details

Personal Service: We maintained constant communication with the agent and operator when the client requested several last-minute changes to the date of the charter.

Flight Representation: Our broker was at the airport to personally oversee the loading process, sending the client real-time photos and keeping them informed throughout.
