When the load turned out to be even bigger than expected, it was a race against the clock to get it there in time.

Getting heavy and outsized stage equipment to a Caribbean arts festival

Our quick thinking helped a freight forwarder deliver stage equipment from China to an arts festival in the Caribbean. As an end-to-end air freight solution wouldn’t be cost-effective for such a heavy and outsized load, the client opted to ship the equipment by sea to Los Angeles, with our cargo experts arranging an aircraft charter for the remainder of the journey to Barbados. But when the consignment turned out to be even heavier and bulkier than expected, it was a race against the clock to deliver it in time.

Our Solution

Routes: Los Angeles > Barbados

Aircraft: 2 x Boeing 747, 1 x Boeing 767

Our team hired a warehouse in Los Angeles and oversaw as the stage equipment was unpacked from sea containers and palletised for air freight.

Several items were found to have larger dimensions than anticipated, exceeding the capacity of the two freighters we’d chartered.

We worked quickly to source an additional freighter for the overflow cargo, which was immediately trucked to where the aircraft was positioned in Florida.

All three charter flights went off without a hitch, ensuring the equipment reached Barbados in time for the festival to go ahead.

The Finer Details

Industry Contacts: We leveraged our strong operator relationships to secure an additional freighter at a moment’s notice.

Dedicated Account Manager: One of our cargo experts flew to Los Angeles to coordinate the freight preparation, working with the warehouse crew to organise the cargo over three days.
