Flying TV equipment to remote French Polynesia

In March 2021, a French production company asked us to help transport equipment from Paris to French Polynesia, where they were filming a new television show.

The client had originally booked a scheduled service, but decided to charter after the cargo was left waiting at the airport as Covid-19 travel restrictions continued to disrupt flights. With a tight turnaround and low aircraft availability for such a short notice flight, we had to work around the clock to ensure the equipment made it to the set in time.

Our Solution

Route: Paris > Tahiti

Aircraft: Boeing B777-300

The request came in on a Friday afternoon and the client’s senior management team was less contactable over the weekend. This made it difficult to get the charter approved, which meant we were unable to secure the first available aircraft in time before someone else booked it. Undeterred, our dedicated team worked 24/7 to quickly source and confirm an alternative.

Conscious of the urgency of the charter and knowing that the cargo weighed less than 15 tonnes and could easily be separated and stacked into the passenger aircraft, we booked a long-range Boeing B777-300 that could complete the journey with only one stop and used a local operator to avoid any delays with securing the necessary permits and traffic rights.

The Finer Details

Available 24/7: Our experienced team worked all weekend to ensure the charter went ahead, even holding late-night Zoom meetings with the client to confirm all the details.

Unrivalled Contacts: Our superior buying power meant we were able to secure the most cost-effective option. We also used our airport contacts to arrange for the handling company to prepare the aircraft at short notice.
