A group of conference attendees needed a private jet charter when their scheduled flight from the Gold Coast back to Melbourne was cancelled.

Flying stranded conference attendees home in Australia

In July 2022, we were asked to help fly a group of 85 passengers back to Melbourne from Australia’s Gold Coast following a conference, after their scheduled flight was cancelled amidst industry-wide aircraft and crew shortages. With the airline unable to offer an alternative commercial flight for two weeks, a private charter was the best way to fly the group back home as soon as possible.

Our Solution

Route: Brisbane > Melbourne

Aircraft: Boeing B737-300

Due to the knock-on effect of the availability issues affecting commercial services, there were no private jets that could be chartered locally at such short notice.

Our experienced team quickly sourced a Boeing B737 based in Brisbane, which was larger than needed but could fly immediately with a full crew.

Rather than incurring the expense of positioning the aircraft to depart from the Gold Coast, we arranged ground transport to transfer the group to the airport in Brisbane, dropping them right on the tarmac so they could board straightaway.

An ACS charter manager was present to handle any queries and ensure the passengers made it back to Melbourne as soon as possible.

The Finer Details

Cost-Effective Solution: We kept costs down by transporting the group to Brisbane, instead of positioning an aircraft to depart from the Gold Coast.

Rapid Response: Despite reduced availability, our quick-thinking team confirmed this last-minute charter within three hours of the request coming in.

Round-the-Clock Communication: We were in constant contact with the lead passengers, keeping them informed of all options so they could choose the right solution for their needs.
