CITY GUIDE INDIANAPOLIS

Private jet charter and flights to Indianapolis, Indiana

New York may have the Yankees, Los Angeles the Lakers and Dallas the Cowboys, but nowhere quite does sport like Indianapolis. Indiana’s state capital is home to the one of the oldest and well-known race tracks in America as well as NFL, NBA, WMBA and Minor League baseball teams. There’s even a Harry Potter-inspired Major League Quidditch team. Besides its serious sporting credentials, Indianapolis is fast becoming a centre of the arts, as well as an under-the-radar alternative to more famous Midwest cities like Chicago and Detroit.Experience it all: request a private jet charter quote from Air Charter Service to Indianapolis.

Known as the ‘Crossroad of America’ due to its position at the intersection of two long distance highways, Indianapolis hardly ever goes by its full name. Affectionately known as Indy, it’s often cited as one of the most underrated cities in the country – and it’s not hard to see why. Following the major renaissance Indy went through during the 1990s, it is now home to a handful of designated cultural districts, plenty of museums and world-class sports venues.

Most of the action takes place in the thriving ‘Mile Square’ downtown district, home to most of the city’s entertainment, culinary, sporting and cultural highlights plus a host of urban parks and thought-provoking memorials. Walk or cycle the eight-mile Indianapolis Cultural Trail via highlights including the Lucas Oil Stadium (home to the Indianapolis Colts NFL team), White River State Park, Victory Field Baseball Park, the Mass Ave cultural district and the magnificent Scottish Rite Cathedral; or follow the three-mile Canal Walk along the central canal at Downtown’s eastern edge. To explore at a more sedate pace, make like you’re in Venice and step aboard a gondola (complete with stripy-shirted gondolier).

A few miles northwest of Downtown is the real star of the show – the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where the iconic Indy 500 takes place. Every May, approximately 300,000 motor racing fans converge here to watch 33 drivers race over a distance of 500 miles around one of the oldest race tracks in the States. If you’re not here for Race Day, the speedway is still well worth a visit and its onsite museum is one of the city’s most popular attractions. Several other events also take place here, including the Red Bull Air Race and the Brickyard 400, a NASCAR series event.

City hotels in Indianapolis range from big branded luxury to charmingly boutique. The Conrad Indianapolis is one of the city’s highest-rated hotels, landing a spot on Conde Nast Traveller’s prestigious Gold List just a couple of years after opening its doors. The Alexander offers a modern, artsy vibe; while the elegant Omni Severin, built in 1913, is perfect for those who prefer historic hotels.

Alongside Indianapolis International Airport, the city is served by metropolitan, executive, regional and county airports. Simply contact our team and we’ll arrange everything you need to charter a private jet to Indianapolis.
