GULFSTREAM G150

GULFSTREAM G150

  • Passengers 8

With its sleek design and fuel-efficient engines, the Gulfstream G150 is one of the world’s fastest midsize business jets. Its impressive range allows for non-stop flights between most cities in the United States and Europe.

About this aircraft

  • The Gulfstream G150 was first delivered in 2005, with a longer and wider cabin than the G100.
  • The G150 can complete non-stop flights from New York to Los Angeles and London to Istanbul.
  • There are three common configurations on the G150, seating six to eight passengers with an extra seat in the enclosed lavatory if required.
  • The G150 has ample storage space for up to eight suitcases – at least one per passenger.
  • The last Gulfstream G150 delivery was made in 2017.

An upgrade of the popular G100, the Gulfstream G150 is larger and sleeker than its predecessor, with wider G200-style windows for a brighter cabin. Impressive speed and performance put the G150 in the same league as other mid-range business jets like the Hawker 900XP and Citation XLS.

Interior design

There are three possible configurations for the Gulfstream G150. The Executive layout seats six, with a front club section and two chairs in the aft; while the seven-seat Universal layout has a right-hand chair and left-hand divan in the aft, followed by a four-seat club to the rear.

The rarer Hallmark layout can seat eight passengers, in what’s essentially the Universal with an extra chair in the aft section that limits the galley. All layouts can use the enclosed lavatory in the rear of the aircraft as an extra passenger seat if required.

Interesting facts to know before you fly

  • Gulfstream’s large, oval signature windows flood the cabin with natural light and are positioned so you can see the world below from the comfort of your seat.
  • With a maximum speed of 0.85 Mach, the Gulfstream G150 is one of the fastest midsize business jets on the market.
  • The Gulfstream G280 is seen by many as the G150’s successor.

Technological features

The Gulfstream G150’s power comes from fuel-efficient Honeywell TFE731-40AR engines that provide 4,420 pounds of thrust each and use 192 gallons per hour (GPH). In the cockpit, Gulfstream improved on the Rockwell Collins ProLine 21 avionics system, adding some of the advanced technology inherent in the vaunted Gulfstream PlaneView cockpit.

History

Gulfstream Aerospace acquired Israel Aircraft Industries’ Astra series in 2001, rebranding the Astra SPX as the Gulfstream G100. The aircraft beat its midsize competitors on speed and range, but its interior was smaller and less comfortable. In 2005, the updated G150 was launched to rectify this problem with a larger cabin.

The G150 was produced until 2016, with over 120 built during the model’s 11-year run.

Manufacturer

Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation is an American aircraft company based in Savannah, Georgia and a wholly-owned subsidiary of General Dynamics. The company originated in the late 1950s when Grumman Aircraft Engineering Co. developed a twin-turboprop business aircraft called the Grumman Gulfstream I (G-I) at its facilities in Bethpage, New York.

Gulfstream now designs, develops, manufactures, markets and services the latest business jet aircraft and has produced more than 2,000 aircraft since 1958.

Cost

In 2006, a new Gulfstream G150 retailed for $13.5 million (USD). Today, pre-owned models fetch between $5 to $8 million, depending on usage, age and condition.
