The Private Jets of Rock Stars, Rappers and Pop Idols - Part 3

In our previous entry to this series, we took a look at some of the world’s most famous musicians and the private jets they travel in. In this update, we look at five more A-Listers, including Ed Sheeran, The Rolling Stones and Ludacris.

The Rolling Stones

Legendary English rock band The Rolling Stones have a history of renting customized private jets on world tours. For their latest concerts, the band have flown in a Boeing 737-400 charter, which is decked-out with over 50 brown leather seats and has a cordoned-off area to give band members some privacy. Anyone who spots the private jet charter will recognize band’s trademark logo, a 10-foot pair of red lips, on the exterior.

Silky-voiced pop sensation Ed Sheeran has become one of the world’s best-loved musicians, and he’s certainly got comfortable with the celebrity lifestyle. Sheeran was spotted earlier this year landing in Cork in a nine-seater Embraer Legacy 500 from London Stansted. Whether it was his own private jet or a charter flight is still unknown, but aviation fans noted the plane’s registration code, G-HARG, which shows it’s the first Embraer Legacy 500 to be registered in the UK.

Kanye is one of the most controversial musicians of the 21st Century and his relationship with private jets is no different. While the Yeezy star famously tweeted that he was $53 million in debt and asked Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to lend him a billion dollars over social media, his financial woes haven’t seemed to stop him from living the high life with his wife, reality star Kim Kardashian – the couple and their children have been spotted flying in a Club Jet Falcon 50. Sources say they don’t own the aircraft, but with a rental cost of around $4,300 per hour, it’s clear the celebrity power couple isn’t exactly in dire financial straits.

The late superstar Elvis Presley owned three private jets in his lifetime. Two of the aircraft, named the Lisa Marie and Hound Dog II, are now on display at the Elvis Presley Museum in Memphis, Tennessee;, while the third sold at a private auction for $430,000 in 2017. Presley owned the 1962 Lockheed Jetstar aircraft with his father, customizing it with a red-and-white striped exterior and an interior decked out with golden fittings and red velvet seats and carpet. The plane sat at an airport in Roswell, New Mexico, for 35 years and had no engines and an unrestored cockpit when it was purchased by an anonymous buyer.

Rapper and actor Ludacris has talked publicly on YouTube about owning his own private jet. The aircraft is thought to be a Hawker 700 worth around $20 million, but little is known about its interior. Despite flying around the world in his own plane, however, The Fast and the Furious star proved in 2014 that he’s still down-to-earth at heart when he famously admitted on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that he still owns the 1993 Acura Legend car he drove before becoming famous.
