The most popular private jets to charter in Spain

While Spain doesn’t have the same quantity of private jets registered in the country as France, Germany or the UK, the number of business jet traffic remains high. Popular destinations like Malaga and Ibiza are key driving forces behind these numbers with more departures and arrivals at these airports than at Madrid and Barcelona. But what are Spain’s most popular private jets? Using our own data, we’ve collated the country’s most sought-after private jets for charter.

Cessna Citation XLS+

With popular routes such as Malaga to Nice and Ibiza to Biggin Hill (UK), lots of air travel in and out of Spain requires an aircraft capable of flights over 2.5 hours whilst carrying a sizable group. The Cessna Citation XLS+ fits this bill perfectly. Comfortably seating seven or eight passengers on fully-reclining padded leather seats, which are up to four inches wider than its competitors, the aircraft boasts a largest-in-class cabin alongside a generous baggage hold big enough to accommodate golf clubs.

Cessna Citation Sovereign

The Citation Sovereign has many of the same qualities the Citation XLS+ brings to the table, but boasts even better performance. Eight individual seats means each passenger has plenty of room to stretch their legs and relax on their exclusive voyage and a baggage hold of approximately 100 cubic feet (20 cu ft more than XLS+) means there’s space for six golf bags. The Sovereign can also travel almost 1000 nautical miles further than the XLS+ (if all variables the same), meaning the aircraft doesn't just connect Malaga with Biggin Hill, but Madrid with the rest of Europe.

Embraer Legacy 650

With a maximum range of approximately 3980 nautical miles, the Embraer Legacy 650 goes even further than the Sovereign, capable of flights from Madrid to New York or Barcelona to Dubai! Not only that, but the 650 is one of a handful of private aircraft in the heavy jet class to offer three distinct cabin zones where passengers can choose to work, dine or even sleep. With 13 seats available in its standard configuration and with a large baggage hold, the aircraft has become renowned for its cost-effective charter solutions for parties of 10 or more.

Cessna Citation Mustang

The Cessna Citation Mustang is known as an ‘air taxi’ for its flour-seat cabin’s resemblance to a London black cab. Despite its size, the Mustang’s range still rivals that of much larger jets and has become renowned as one of the most cost-effective options for small parties travelling around Europe. The aircraft also provides ample storage for luggage and leisure equipment, such as golf clubs or skis.

Cessna Citation CJ2

Similarly to the Mustang, the CJ2 provides one of the most cost-effective charter solutions on the private jet market. Able to fly six passengers for almost three hours, the CJ2 and the upgraded CJ2+ are ideal for short trips like Malaga to London.

The Cessna CJ2’s roomy interior typically comes with a fully stocked refreshment centre and an enclosed lavatory at the back – something smaller jets usually can’t accommodate. Other amenities may include power outlets, a passenger flight phone and a hot coffee station. Unlike other light jets, the CJ2 also provides ample baggage storage, with enough space for six suitcases in the external hold.
