Fly Private to Keep a Child Alive’s Black Ball
Alicia Keys and AIDS activist Leigh Blake founded Keep a Child Alive in 2003 with the goal of providing life-saving HIV medication to children dying of AIDS in Africa. Thanks to events like this one, Keep a Child Alive (KCA) is able to reach 70,000 people annually. All proceeds of the annual event go to charity.
This year’s Black Ball will feature performances by A$AP Rocky, Patti Smith, and Alicia Keys herself. In addition to musical performances, Clive Davis, the Chief Creative Officer of Sony Music Entertainment, will be honored for his lifelong commitment to fighting AIDS. Dinner comes courtesy of celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson, and is included in a main-floor ticket.
The theme of the evening is reinvigorating the spirit of activism that was so alive in the 1980s. A touch of 80s style is encouraged. While the event will be live-streamed, a view from your laptop just can’t come close to the real thing.
