Flying a 4.5-tonne aircraft engine to Brazil

In December 2022, a freight forwarder asked us to help fly a 4.5-tonne aircraft engine from Canada to the end client’s plant in Brazil within a tight deadline. The urgent cargo was too heavy for a scheduled flight, so a charter was the most efficient way to deliver it fast. We set about arranging a solution that met the client’s needs.

Our Solution

Route: Montreal > São José dos Campos

Aircraft: Boeing B747-400

We quickly sourced a Being B747 that could transport the heavy cargo.

Due to the urgency of the charter, the client wanted it to land at the closest airport to the plant, São José dos Campos – the first time a B747 had landed there.

São José dos Campos didn’t have the necessary equipment to unload the cargo, so we arranged to transport a main deck loader from another airport especially for this charter.

The Finer Details

Flight Representation: Luca from our São Paulo office travelled to the airport to welcome the B747 and oversee as the engine was unloaded.

Experienced Team: We worked closely with the airport and operating airline to manage this special operation and arrange the required permits.
