Day 1 - Exploring the breath-taking Tuscan countryside

You’ll fly by private jet from London direct to Siena airport, a stunning medieval city in Tuscany which is famous for its Gothic architecture, extraordinary art collections and artisanal boutiques. On arrival, disembark your aircraft and take a private transfer to Castello di Casole in the rolling Tuscan countryside. Occupying a 10th-century former castle on a 4,200-acre estate, the stately hilltop boutique hotel offers a luxurious retreat from the bustle of the nearby city.

You’ll stay at the Castello for three nights in a Grandiosa Suite, with sweeping views of the wooded scenery. Each suite is luxuriously decorated, with rustic wood-beamed ceilings complementing rich fabrics and furnishings. Spend the rest of the day either unwinding in the pampering hotel spa or exploring your rural surroundings, borrowing one of the hotel’s mountain bikes or hiking the meadows and tree-lined roads that crisscross the estate.

Day 2 - Behind the scenes at the race rehearsal

Today can be spent further exploring this enchanting region, perhaps embarking on a morning trip to Florence to marvel at the iconic Duomo cathedral with its dramatic terracotta-tiled dome and famous bell tower. This richly cultural city is also home to the Galleria dell'Accademia, where you can view Michelangelo’s ‘David’ sculpture, and the Uffizi Gallery, which displays Botticelli’s legendary ‘Birth of Venus’.

In the late afternoon, you’ll be collected from the hotel and driven to Siena’s city centre, where an expert local guide will accompany you to a thrilling rehearsal of the Palio, followed by a delicious dinner with locals and race organisers during which you can learn all about the history of the grand sporting event. This exclusive insider-access experience is a privileged opportunity to delve behind the scenes of the world’s greatest medieval race, which has been held in the city’s sweeping Piazza del Campo since the 1600s.
