“In Singapore, a stay at the 629 sq m Chairman Suite on the top two floors (levels 53 and 54) of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel will give you incredible views of the Singapore skyline. You can spread yourself out across two beautiful living rooms and four en suite bedrooms. You’re encouraged to relax in your Jacuzzi or sip on some Champagne on the private balcony as the immense city of Singapore glitters beneath you.

“You’re invited to customise your in-suite dining and entertainment, with a dedicated butler team at your service. I would recommend dining at Waku Ghin, however, which specialises in delicious European and Japanese cuisine. It can be found on Level 2 and costs around $363 per person. It’s difficult to find a table, but if you’re staying in the Chairman Suite, you’re bound to get lucky.”

“The Royal Suite on the 5th floor of the Hotel Plaza Athenee boasts a magnificent view overlooking the Eiffel Tower. It is the largest and most spacious suite in the city at 450 sq m, and includes four en suite bedrooms, two lounges and even an office and kitchen, so any guest can really make themselves at home. The design is classical, opulent Parisian but blends in subtle modern accents. Bathrooms are fitted with Italian marble and one of them includes a Jacuzzi and steam room.

“While you’re at it, make sure you indulge in the most extravagant dinner and make your way to Alain Ducasse's famous restaurant Le Meurice. Expect to pay in the region of $334 per person, depending on what you choose."

“The biggest private villa available at the Velaa Private Island luxury resort, which itself is a private island, is 210 sq m, and each one, two and four-bedroom villa comes with its own 60 sq m pool. If you’re looking to make the most of the azure ocean all around you, you’re welcome to hop onto the resort’s super-yacht for an impromptu day cruise or intimate dinner. This is the ultimate splurge on privacy and space.

“The island resort also offers a choice between their Teppanyaki restaurant, their signature Champagne bar and entertainment lounge to dine. You can also just get Michelin-star chef Adeline Grattard to pack you a picnic box to enjoy anywhere on the island. The golf academy and in-house marine biologist can keep both the fit and curious busy.”

“A steal in comparison to the other hotels mentioned in this list, this 131 sq m one bedroom suite at Le Méridien in Tahiti overlooks the translucent waters of the blue lagoon and island of Moorea. It has a distinct Polynesian style, but with a modern undertone. A large contemporary living room overlooks the Pacific Ocean and boasts a beautiful open terrace from which to enjoy the ocean views.

“The real costs are, of course, in getting there, as French Polynesia is a remote island located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. If getting away from it all is your goal, there are few other locations that offer this level of privacy and serenity.”

#5 Singita Lodge, South Africa

Price: Approx. $18,480 per night

Singita means ‘Place of Miracles’, which is an apt description for this remarkable location. Nestled in preserved and pristine wilderness, you can choose to be closer to nature by staying in a luxuriously furnished colonial tented camp, or make yourself at home in one of the suites of the immense lodges. Each lodge and tented camp has its own unique style, so choosing something to suit your tastes is a breeze.

“Even though Singita is a perfectly serene place to relax, the spa, elegant dining options and exciting wildlife tours keep even the most active individual busy.”

“At 400 sq m, this immense accommodation within the Four Seasons, New York has been likened to ‘staying in an artwork’. Four Seasons pulled designers Peter Marino and I.M Pei out of retirement to complete this one last masterpiece, which itself includes one-of-a-kind furniture and original artworks by acclaimed international artists. The eye candy isn’t limited to the interior, however, as guests are treated to a panoramic view of Manhattan from four glass balconies.

“Perks include a full-time personal butler, a chauffeured Rolls-Royce Phantom at your disposal and unlimited Champagne, caviar and massages whenever you please.”

#7 The Ion Luxury Adventure Hotel, Iceland

“The Ion Luxury Adventure Hotel is a Brutalist-designed hotel of glass, steel and concrete that is propped up on stilts upon Mount Hengill, an active volcano. It overlooks a mossy green field. The design of the hotel is minimalist Scandinavian, which also extends to the elegant Nordic food on offer at their in-house restaurant, Silfra.

“As its name implies, the hotel is well positioned to offer its guests a fine array of adventurous activities. Based in the middle of the Golden Circle, the hotel is only a short drive from the mountainous region of Thingvellir National Park and the lake by the same name. The hotel offers a range of activities to take advantage of this location, including fly-fishing, glacier tours, horseriding and scuba-diving in the Silfra fissure. The rate of the hotel might be reasonable in comparison to other hotels on this list, but remember that everything on this relatively isolated island is quite steep.”

If you’re looking to host dinner parties or private meetings from the comfort of your own space, this is the suite to hire. All suites at this hotel boast panoramic views of one of the best areas of the stunningly cultured Oslo city. Each room is decorated differently with a uniquely eccentric style, making it all the more homely.

“The 377 sq m Peninsula Suite at the Peninsula Hotel offers the most breathtaking views of Victoria Harbour location, which is highlighted by floor-to-ceiling windows and a landscaped terrace. Rich tones complement the contemporary style of this accommodation. This is the perfect place for entertaining, with a kitchen and adjoining 10-seat dining room, as well as a private living room, a gym and a cinematic screening room.

“While you probably don’t ever have to leave your suite, it’s worth a visit to the breathtaking city outside. Visitors to Hong Kong are spoilt for choice when dining. Lung King Heen in the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong is the first Chinese restaurant in the world to get three Michelin stars. The fabulous Cantonese-style Yan Toh Heen is a two-star Michelin restaurant on the waterfront that has views as beautiful as its food is delectable. A dish of fresh crab claws steamed in winter melon at the two-star Michelin Tim's Kitchen will give your taste buds a holiday they won’t soon forget.”
