The W Punta de Mita Hotel as not only is it chic and innovative, but also effortlessly luxurious. It offers a wonderful personalised service that perfectly balances discretion with efficiency. Quirky modern décor and furnishings offer plenty of style as well as comfort, with hanging chairs, in pool loungers, and some great locally themed art and sculpture pieces. Dining offers you everything from casual Asian fare to seven-course tasting menus, and authentic Mexican cuisine to international favourites. There’s plenty when it comes to cocktails offerings too, as well as a spa, pool and fitness centre. Rooms are colourful and quirky, with all the mod-cons you’d expect as well as a balcony or patio, coffee maker and Wi-Fi.
For authentic Mexican food, Tuna Blanca is one of the hotspots of the area. All food is crafted from locally sourced produce, including the fish, bought up from the fishermen on the beach. This vibrant, colourful restaurant prides itself on showcasing the flavours of Mexico, with chef Thierry Blouet creating a menu so good, you’ll struggle to choose. The Insu Sky Bar and Pool Lounge at the Marival Residences is also a great spot for foodies. Here you’ll find cuisine from three continents; Asia, Europe and America, and the views overlooking Banderas Bay complement the food beautifully. Menu highlights include gratin spicy lobster sushi roll, duck spring rolls with hoisin sauce and grilled lamb chops with mint jelly.
Riviera Nayarit is home to the Litibu Golf Course, home to 15 holes, seven links-style and eight surrounded by verdant jungle. Overlooking the ocean, this Greg Normal designed course offers golfers outstanding views as well as a challenging course. If you’d rather spend your time in the ocean, rather than teeing off beside it, the area is also famed for its scuba diving. There’s an array of options, catering for any skill level. What you’ll see is seasonal, and between December and March is the best for a lot of the larger sea mammals as they migrate here for the winter. There are opportunities to see whales, dolphins, manta rays and sea turtles in the area, as well as a whole host of smaller but no less intriguing marine life.
