Our team of researchers combed through countless government archives and leveraged on-the-ground contacts to gather local intelligence for the Private Jets of World Leaders study. Through our research, we were able to assemble precise data on the exact models and number of aircraft in each world leader’s fleet.
The comparative analysis had some surprising results. The largest fleet in the study belongs to Russian President Vladimir Putin, and contains 68 airplanes and 64 helicopters in all. The most frugal leader in the study was General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Xi Jinping, who doesn’t own a personal aircraft. Instead, he charters airplanes from Air China. The planes are modified for his personal trips and then returned to the state and used as regular passenger aircraft.
